MASSILLON, OH (WOIO) - The woman accused of murdering her husband pleaded not guilty at her arraignment in Massillon Municipal Court on Friday.

Police say 26-year-old Colleen McKernan shot and killed Robert McKernan on New Years Eve at their home on Oak Trail Road.

Colleen called 911 after shooting her husband multiple times in the face and torso. Police say she started performing chest compressions on her husband after shooting him.

Prosecutors wanted a $1 million bond, but the judge lowered the bond to $100,000 after her parents said she was not a flight risk and has no criminal record. They also pointed out she was an Air Force veteran.

"My daughter is an Air Force vet. She served in Turkey and Afghanistan," he said.

Colleen is due back in court next week. She posted bond, but is under house arrest.
