Dog owner searches for boxer after hectic crash into cafe

On Friday, January 2, 2015 at 6:05 p.m.,

say a 74-year-old woman drove her car through the front of the Chowder House Cafe at 2028 Chestnut Blvd.

The woman was pulling out of the CVS Store parking lot at 1711 State Road in her 2003 Toyota Camry.  As she exited the southwest driveway, she accelerated, drove across Chestnut Blvd., up onto the devil strip in front of the Shell Gas Station, veered east, smashing the front of the cafe.

The accident didn't end there.  The driver continued to operate the vehicle which traveled easterly, veered back to the north, sped across Chestnut Blvd. again, jumped the curb, drove back into the CVS Store parking lot and struck a parked car head on, before finally coming to a stop.

The Cuyahoga Falls Police and Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.  The driver was transported  to Akron City Hospital for her injuries.  She was cited for failure to control in the accident.

The woman's dog was riding alongside her during the accident and had run off afterwards.

Officers are hoping that someone will locate the dog and return him to his owner.

The dog is described as a male boxer, brownish-red in color, wearing a purple leash.

The dog may be injured and bleeding from the crash.
