COLUMBUS, OH (WOIO) - This year's holiday period saw a decrease in deadly accidents on the roads.
According to the Ohio State Patrol, eight people were killed on the state's roadways during the 2015 New Year's Holiday, a five-day reporting period beginning December 31 at 12 a.m. and ending January 4 at 11:59 p.m.
Troopers were busy during the holidays. They arrested 365 drivers for impaired driving. In addition, troopers cited 479 people with aggressive driving, arrested 183 motorists for drug-related offenses and cited 982 people for safety violations.
Last year 12 people were killed during the same time period.
