The Cleveland Indians and Manager Terry Francona announced on Tuesday that Jason Bere has been named the bullpen coach.
Bere replaces Kevin Cash, who was named manager of the Tampa Bay Rays on December 5.
Bere has been a special assistant to the Baseball Operations Department since retiring as a player in 2005. Jason's role provided instruction and evaluation of organizational pitcher within the Indians Player Development system and spent each spring training in uniform assisting the Major League and Minor League coaching staffs.
Bere,43, pitched 11 seasons in the Major League, including stints with the Indians in 2000 and 2003. He was also the starting and winning pitcher for Chicago in the final game played at Cleveland Stadium on October 3, 1993.
