MASSILLON, OH (WOIO) - Friends and family of Robert McKernan gathered near his Oak Trail Road home Tuesday night and held a vigil in his remembrance. About 100 people attended the emotional event in freezing temps.

McKernan was killed on New Year's Eve after Massillon Police say his wife, Colleen, shot him several times.

Colleen called 911 after shooting her husband multiple times in the face and torso. Police say she started performing chest compressions on her husband after shooting him.

Prosecutors wanted a $1 million bond, but the judge lowered the bond to $100,000 after her parents said she was not a flight risk and has no criminal record.

Colleen is due back in court next week. She posted bond, but is under house arrest.
