WAYNE COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol Wooster Post is currently investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred late Tuesday afternoon on SR 83 and Pleasant Home Road in Canaan Township.

A semi tractor-trailer was traveling south on SR 83 approaching Pleasant Home Road. A Subaru traveling southbound behind the semi attempted to pass it in a no-passing zone as two northbound vehicles were approaching. The Subaru did not have enough clearance to complete the pass, lost control and struck the left side of the semi. The Subaru then traveled to the left where it stuck the first northbound vehicle, a Chevrolet. The second northbound vehicle, a Chrysler, then struck the Chevrolet. The semi-trailer traveled off the right side of the roadway, across Pleasant Home road, continued off the roadway and came to rest in a field.

The driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Subaru was transported to Wooster Community Hospital, then Life-Flighted to Cleveland Metro. The driver of the semi-trailer was transported to Lodi Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Chrysler was treated at the scene and was not transported.

So far no names have been released.

The crash is currently under investigation.
