are investigating a deadly hit and run on the west side.
His name was Donny Stalla, but his family called him by his middle name, Scott. We sat down with his only sister, Christine, and his nephew, James.
"He did not deserve this at all. No. I don't believe he deserved it at all," said Christine.
On Saturday night around 10:30, Donny and friend were about to cross Denison Avenue near West 60
Street to go to a store.
That friend told family what happened next.
"When they looked over to see if they could cross the street, he said they had plenty of space to cross the street, but when he stepped out, he said the truck came a lot faster than he expected, and he said he screamed 'Donny' and reached for him, and it was too late. The truck then took him," said James.
The truck didn't stop. Neither did the next two cars that ran him over, according to that witness. The fourth vehicle that hit him, which was another truck, finally stopped.
"They did actually did get out and tried to get my uncle out from under the truck," said James.
Donny died two hours later at the hospital.
"If somebody knows something, please help," said Christine.
Police are investigating and say they are getting tips from the public. The only description so far is some sort of orange or bronze truck, maybe a Dodge.
Donny's family admits he's had some trouble in his life, but say no one deserves this.
"It's hard to believe there are people out there that can run a human being over and just keep going. Leave them on the side of the road like a stray animal," said James.
