Authorities investigate school bus bomb threat in Randolph Township

PORTAGE COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - The Ravenna Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating an incident where a school bus driver from Springfield Local Schools was alerted that a possible bomb was on her bus.

The school bus was on State Route 44 in Randolph Township at the time of the incident. 

The time of the call into the Ravenna Post was 10:07 p.m. on January 16, 2015. 

Ravenna Highway Patrol, Portage County Sheriff's Office, Kent Police Department, and Brimfield Township Police Department were on scene to secure the school bus.

The school bus driver was able to pull over in a safe location and assist in the evacuation of the bus. A bomb alerting canine was used to search the school bus. 

No explosives were detected and the school bus was made safe.

The incident is still under investigation at this time.
