The mother of a five-year-old gunned down a year ago will hold a vigil to remember her daughter.
The vigil will be held at Cleveland's Emery Park Monday, Jan. 19 at 4:30 p.m. on W. 130th.
Jermani died one year ago today.
Noni Brooks and her daughter, Jermani, were both shot on Jan. 19, 2014, when police say Geoffrey Gurkovich pumped bullets into the family's van on Crossburn Avenue.
Noni Brooks survived, but lost an eye. Police say the Brooks family was not Gurkovich's intended target.
Gurkovich's girlfriend allegedly got into an altercation with Noni's boyfriend earlier that night. Investigators believe Gurkovich went to the Crossburn Avenue home looking for him.
Gurkovich said he bought the gun he used for protection and fired out of stupidity.
Last month, Gurkovich was sentenced to life in prison for the shooting.
