Man arrested for hoax calls to Solon Schools

SOLON, OH (WOIO) - Solon Police charged a man with making false alarms after police say he made multiple phone calls to Solon High School claiming his "son" had become a credible threat.

Dwayne Edward Brown, 52, of Detroit Avenue in Lakewood was arrested Friday, January 16 after both the Solon Police Department and the Solon City School District received multiple phone calls on January 14 and 15.

Mr. Brown claimed his "son" was experiencing an emotional crisis over incidents occurring at school and had become a credible threat to the school and students. Mr. Brown refused to identify his "son" and during conversations the validity of his claims became increasingly suspect.

Despite suspicions of a hoax, the Solon High School and the Solon Police Department increased their physical security presence at the High School while the investigation into the calls continued.

The Solon Detective Bureau confirmed that Mr. Brown did not have any children and he was arrested later that evening. He has been released after posting bond.

Mr. Brown is scheduled to appear in Bedford Municipal Court February 4 at 9 a.m.
