Footprints lead Canton Police to armed robbery suspects

CANTON, OH (WOIO) - Two suspects are facing multiple charges after Canton Police tracked their footprints in the snow from the scene of a crime.

On Sunday around 9:45 p.m., officers responded to the Shorb Drive Thru on 12th Street NW for an armed robbery. They were advised by the clerk that one of the suspects had a gun and struck her on the right side of her head, causing serious injury. The two suspects then fled the scene on foot, heading south toward Richard Pl NW.

According to police, officers followed the tracks left in the snow to a house in the 800 block of 7


Street NW. Once surrounding the home, they made contact with the homeowner. After entering the residence, K-9 officers began to search and located both suspects hiding in the basement.

Officers recovered the hand gun used, which was stolen from Detroit, along with the money taken from the store.

Both suspects were charged with the following:

-Aggravated Robbery (F1)

-Felonious Assault (F1)

-Resisting Arrest (M2)

-Receiving Stolen Property (F4)

Police say the employee injured during the incident is recovering and doing well.
