WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) - Warrensville Heights Police are unraveling a mystery surrounding a shooting at a home on Wickfield just off Warrensville Center Road, about a block from the Shaker Heights border.

Police were called to the 20000 block of Wickfield at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday for shots fired. Neighbors say they heard laughing and gunshots.

When police arrived, they found the homeowner, 49-year-old Marc Lanier, in the entrance of the front door. He had been shot several times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Not much is known now, but neighbors say crimes like this don't usually happen in their neighborhood, which is best described as a quiet, working-class neighborhood.

So far no one has been arrested and police say they are still searching for suspects. The chief says there had never been any calls to the home or trouble at the home in the past.

Police Chief Wesley Haynes says his detectives are short on clues. If you have any information, call police at 216-581-1234.
