GEAUGA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - Four people accused of smuggling drugs into a local jail are locked up, according to the Geauga County Sheriff.

On Jan. 27, while investigating a possible drug overdose which occurred in the Geauga County Jail, detectives learned that an inmate's girlfriend was purchasing heroin/fentanyl in Cleveland and was sewing the drug into underwear to get them inside the facility.

Detectives arrested Idonna Laskowski, 31, after learning she was responsible for smuggling the heroin into the jail. While searching Laskowski's Chesterland home they found heroin/fentanyl and other drug abuse instruments. Laskowski has been charged with conveyance in a detention facility.

Detectives were able to determine the origin of the heroin and arranged a controlled purchase from Jessie L. Green, 18.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. Green arrived at the Chesterland McDonald's with Antonio M. Washington 18, and a 17-year old-male all from Cleveland, driving a 2012 Chevy Sedan.

After the transaction took place, detectives tried to arrest the suspects, but Green took off and crashed into an unmarked police vehicle while fleeing and kept going.

Deputies and Chesterland Police followed the suspects westbound on Mayfield Rd. The suspects threw money and drug instruments from their vehicle. During the chase, Green crashed into a curb. The three men jumped out and ran into some nearby woods. They were eventually caught.

Green was charged with trafficking in heroin, Washington was charged with complicity to trafficking in drugs, and the juvenile was charged with complicity to trafficking in drugs.

Laskowski, Green and Washington were arraigned in Chardon Municipal Court Wednesday. The juvenile appeared in Geauga County Juvenile Court. All four remain locked up and are expected back in court next month.
