AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Several people were injured after a house fire Thursday morning.

The blaze started just before 10 a.m. at 947 Barbara Ave. in Akron.

Three people were trapped on the second floor. After Akron firefighters went inside to help, flames became out of control.

Gerald Swain witnessed the blaze.

"When we came out, there was smoke coming out the window, and I seen the lady that was in the window trying to get out, but she couldn't get out," said Swain. "When they busted the front door and windows, flames just accelerated, and there was fire coming out everywhere. There were firefighters jumping out the front windows and jumping out the side windows, too."

Officials say at least six people were transported to the hospital, including firefighters. One woman inside suffered serious injuries. The firefighters' injuries were not as serious.

Investigators are still looking for a cause.
