SHAKER SQUARE, OH (WOIO) - Cleveland Police are investigating a deadly shooting in Shaker Square.

The victim, according to EMS, died right next to her parked vehicle.

"Shaker Square does have cameras and we're providing the footage to the police," said Peter Rubin, of Shaker Square.

The shooting happened around 8:30 a.m. Monday.

The suspect's sister called 911 saying her brother just called her and told her what he did.

911: "9-1-1, What's your emergency?"
Caller: "My brother just called me and just told me he shot his girlfriend. She's on Shaker, Shaker Heights US Bank. Up there somewhere."

The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Tonia McCrary, of Cleveland.

After shooting McCrary police say the suspect drove to the east side and killed himself.

His body was found in a pick-up at East 121st and Buckingham just before 10 a.m. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identified him as Julius Whaley Jr., 38, of Cleveland.

"They located his vehicle and the individual believed to have been a suspect in this incident was expired from what was believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound," said Sgt. Ali Pillow.
