WICKLIFFE, OH (WOIO) -

Wickliffe Police are investigating the death of a 2-month-old baby.

Around 3:45 a.m. Friday, Wickliffe Police and Fire departments responded to a 911 call of a baby in distress at an apartment in the 1500 block of Ridgewick Drive.

Rescue crews rushed little Zuri Whitehead, of Cleveland, to Lake West Hospital. She was later transferred by medical helicopter to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.

In spite of best efforts, the child died of extensive internal injuries.

The Wickliffe Police Department is treating this death as suspicious, and an 11-year-old girl is being held in custody at the Lake County Juvenile Detention Center in connection with this incident.

Wickliffe Police Chief Randy Ice tells us the 11-year-old's mother was babysitting at the home and called 911.
