WICKLIFFE, OH (WOIO) - Two-month-old Zuri Whitehead was at a family friend's home in the 1500 block of Ridgewick Drive in Wickliffe just before 4 a.m. Friday when police say something terrible happened.

A friend of the infant's mother was watching Zuri at the time.

The babysitter's 11- year-old daughter was also at the home.

The babysitter called 911 saying the infant wasn't breathing.

Dispatcher:  "It's not responding at all?"

Babysitter:   "A little bit. She's breathing but her eyes are closed."

Devyn Woods lives in the community. He says he is disturbed about the incident.

"Heartbreaking. Absolutely heartbreaking," says Woods, "All I saw was four cop cars lined up and I knew something was happening. But I didn't know to the gravity of the situation. It's terrible."

Paramedics rushed little Zuri to Lake West Hospital, then later airlifted her to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.

That's where police say Zuri died of extensive internal injuries.

The 11-year-old girl was taken into custody.

"We can't think back in Lake County when we had something like this happen when an 11-year-old child was involved in the death of a two-month-old child," says Wickliffe Police Chief Randy Ice.

Chief Ice says he knew right way that it was suspicious.

He says he expects to release more information about this troubling case on Monday.
