Tips help Fairview Park police nab car thieves

FAIRVIEW PARK, OH (WOIO) - On the night of November 5, 2014, two cars were stolen from the parking lot of Complete Auto Repair Service at 18990 Lorain Road in Fairview Park.

Surveillance video caught two tow trucks pull into the lot. The tow truck operators hooked the stolen cars to their trucks then towed the vehicles out of the parking lot then eastbound on Lorain Road.

With the help of tips from the public and the assistance of other Police agencies in northeast Ohio, the Fairview Park Police secured arrest warrants for Charles Morris 46, of Cleveland, Ohio and Rashaud Smith 33, of Euclid, Ohio for the theft of the vehicles.

Morris turned himself in on the warrant on February 9, 2015. He was arrested, booked and released on bond after appearing in Rocky River Municipal Court.

Smith is currently in the custody of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction on unrelated charges.
