EUCLID, OH (WOIO) -

A 12-year-old boy is recovering after getting hit by a vehicle in front of Euclid High School Monday afternoon.

Witnesses told police around 3:20 p.m., the boy was crossing East 222nd Street near Morris Avenue when he slipped on ice and fell into the path of a van.

Police say after hitting the child, the 41-year-old male driver, who is a Euclid resident, immediately stopped to check on his condition. Police and Fire/Rescue personnel quickly responded to the scene.

The boy, who is a student of nearby Pinnacle Academy, was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Euclid Police have determined that the driver of the van was not at fault and the accident occurred because the child improperly crossed the street.

Due to the boy's age, police say no charges will be filed.

The investigation is closed.
