"I didn't want to believe what they were telling me," says Trina Whitehead.

Trina expresses a mother's pain, knowing her precious baby is gone and the way she passed away is disturbing. Now, she and her family are left with so many unanswered questions.

"All they had to do is bring my baby back home to me," says Trina.

2-month-old Zuri Whitehead was beaten to death. An 11-year-old girl, the daughter of Zuri's babysitter, is charged with the crime. The Cuyhahoga County Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide Wednesday. The infant had blunt impacts to her head, neck, trunk, arms and legs.

Trina says that babysitter was her best friend.

"What could she have possibly done to be mistreated that way?" asks Trina.

She says she wants to remember Zuri in the happy moments.

"Everybody that came around her just brought smiles to their face. Just how beautiful she was. How happy she made them feel."

Trina is thankful for the countless thoughts and prayers she's received from friends and strangers alike, that are getting her through these dark days.

As this mother finds strength by being surrounded by her loved ones, she prepares to do what no parent should ever have to do: bury her child.

"I just want her back."

A fund to help pay for little Zuri's funeral services has been established at Dollar Bank. Donations can be made in Zuri's name at any branch.

Meantime, a competency hearing for the 11-year-old girl who is accused of killing little Zuri has been scheduled for Feb. 26, 2015.
