MENTOR, OH (WOIO) - Authorities in Mentor say a man tried to bring cocaine with him as he was bailing a family member out of jail.

Because the jail is within a 1,000 feet of a school, 19-year-old Jose Luis Santiago Rodriguez was charged with drug trafficking. His cell phone was also confiscated.

Rodriguez went to the police station to help bond out his cousin. Rodriguez and some in his group smelled so strongly of marijuana it drew the attention of officers in another room. Rodriguez was subsequently searched and three baggies of cocaine were found on him.

He was arrested. It's unclear if he has an attorney or if he bonded out.
