CUYAHOGA FALLS, OH (WOIO) -

The father of a 3-month-old Cuyahoga Falls baby is locked up on $1 million bond. Matthew A. Scott is facing murder charges after the infant died from head injuries. Baby Alivia died on Feb. 16. She was taken to Akron Children's Hospital on Feb. 5.

Alivia was in the care of her father when she was hurt. Police say she was assaulted and found unresponsive.

In an exclusive interview with 19 Action News reporter Scott Taylor, Alivia's grandfather's fiancée, who saw Alivia in the hospital, describes her injuries.

"Three-fourths of her skull has been fractured," said Jaclyn McCormick.

McCormick remembers Alivia's last month when she spent the day with her.

"Very cute. She was always smiling. I would be goofy with her and she was starting to smile," she said. "She means a lot to all of us."

After almost a two-week investigation, Scott has been charged with murder, felonious assault and endangering children. Sources tell Scott Taylor he is telling police he accidentally dropped Alivia and she hit her head on the floor.

Scott's next court date has not been sent.
