CANTON, OH (WOIO) - The Nationwide Insurance office in downtown Canton is relocating.
According to company spokesman Eric Hardgrove the move will begin in 2017 and about 400 jobs will be eliminated.
The company broke the news to employees Thursday, February 19.
Statement from Nationwide:
"Today, Nationwide announced a multi-year initiative to consolidate its direct sales, service and claims operations. As part of this initiative, Nationwide shared with associates that we will be exiting our Canton facility between 2017 and 2020. Our goal with today's announcement is to provide associates with as much advance notice as possible and to support them in light of this information. Nationwide hopes to maintain employment for as many associates as possible by offering them relocation opportunities. Associates will be encouraged to apply for jobs within Nationwide, and relocation services will be offered to those who qualify. Associates who choose not to relocate will be offered 60 days paid advance notice, plus severance benefits, as well as assistance to find alternative employment opportunities, whether inside or outside Nationwide. As with any multi-year transition plan, things can change, but we want to share what we are currently planning with our associates."
