2 dead, 1 critically injured in SR 18 crash

PENFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - The Elyria Post of the

is investigating a double fatality that occurred Friday on state Route 18 west of Foster Road at shortly before 2:30 p.m. in Penfield Township.

According to the OSHP, Richard Forgues, 64, of Barberton, was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix eastbound on SR 18. At the same time, William Bihn, 49, of Medina, was traveling westbound in a Chrysler Town and Country. The OSHP says Forgues went left of center and struck Bihn, rotating Bihn's vehicle until it came to rest off the north side of the road, and Forgues' vehicle came to rest on the roadway.

Although Forgues and Bihn were wearing their seatbelts, they both died in the crash.

Rhonda Forgues, 59, of Barberton, a passenger in the Chrysler Town and Country, was also wearing her seatbelt. She was subsequently air lifted to MetroHealth Medical Center with critical injuries.

SR 18 was closed for approximately four hours.

The OSHP says it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor.
