Cleveland Police are investigating the death of a 34-year-old man found in the 10600 block of Grantwood. The victim, William D. Williams, is the brother of Chief Calvin Williams.

According to police, Williams was shot in the head around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. His girlfriend, Dana Johnson was immediately named a suspect.

Pennsylvania State Police Troopers New Castle Post was alerted that Johnson might be in that area. Troopers spotted Johnson on SR 376 in Lawrence County.

When they approached her car, troopers say Johnson held a gun to her head and fired one shot. She was flown by helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh where she remains in critical condition.

It appears Johnson was on her way to her family in Maryland. She had a note in her car that stated what to do with her remains.

Right now there is no motive for the murder. Police believe a domestic disturbance led to the killing.

Dana Johnson had been in trouble before. She was convicted of aggravated theft in 2010.

Williams worked at a nonprofit organization in downtown Cleveland.

"They seemed like a very nice couple. They had only been on the street maybe a year and a half," said neighbor Carrie David.

Mayor Frank G. Jackson released a statement regarding Williams' death:

"My thoughts and prayers are with Chief Calvin Williams and his family. I ask that everyone respect their privacy during this difficult time"

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner will determine Williams' final cause of death.

If you have any information concerning this case you're asked to contact police.
