Club Fly High temporarily shut down

Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Brendan Sheehan issued a temporary restraining order Tuesday, closing Club Fly High on Cleveland's east side.

The bar on Superior Avenue near East 71st Street is now boarded up.

Cleveland Councilman TJ Dow has been fighting to get Club Fly High closed for some time, calling it a "plague on the neighborhood."

Dow said, "This is the first step in ridding our community of this dangerous and derelict establishment."

The bar has been the scene of several crimes, the most recent involved the shooting death of a 30-year-old man in the bathroom.

Judge Sheehan has scheduled a preliminary injunction hearing for March 10.
