NORTHEAST OHIO (WOIO) - stores will close around northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania next month. Owned by
, the chain offers a shopping experience that focuses on lower operating costs, without compromising quality.
"While our Good Cents locations initially gained popularity, numerous business and economic factors have made it difficult to continue to successfully deliver the shopping experience customers have come to expect from Good Cents," said Giant Eagle spokesperson Dan Donovan. "We greatly appreciate the loyalty and patronage we have received since the stores' openings."
All eight locations will cease operations by the close of business on Thursday, March 26. Store hours at these locations will be 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. through the March closure.
The decision to discontinue affects four northeast Ohio locations:
-Eastlake Good Cents on Vine Street, which opened in November 2008
-Brooklyn Good Cents on Ridge Road, which opened in May 2012
-Ravenna Good Cents on West Main Street, which opened in July 2009
-Parma Good Cents on Day Drive, which opened in September 2013
These closures affect approximately 125 northeast Ohio team members. The company says it's working to find open positions at area Giant Eagle locations for those interested in continuing employment.
