LORAIN, OH (WOIO) - On Thursday morning,

responded to a serious crash in the 1800 block of East 28

Street, where a city worker was critically injured after getting pinned between two vehicles.

Police say just before 11 a.m., Jerrad Londo lost control of his Ford Taurus while heading eastbound on East 28th near Pearl Avenue. Londo's car struck a Lorain utilities truck that was parked in front of the Three Star Restaurant. Standing by the utilities truck moments before the crash, worker Calvondo Smith then became pinned between the truck and Londo's car. The impact projected the truck forward, causing it to collide with a parked Mercedes S550.

Smith, 55, was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center with critical injuries. As of 5 p.m., he was still listed in critical condition.

Londo, 28, of Sheffield Village, suffered minor injuries. He declined to be taken to the hospital.

Police say Londo did not have a valid license and was showing signs of impairment during the investigation. He was arrested and has been charged with OVI, driving under suspension, failure to control, as well as a seat belt violation. Additional charges are pending.

Londo was booked in the Lorain City Jail and was released on bond. He will be arraigned in Lorain Municipal Court on March 3.

Police say the roadway at the time of the crash was slick and snow covered.

An investigation into the crash continues. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is urged to contact the Lorain Police Department Traffic Bureau at 440-204-2115.
