On Saturday morning the men's ministry from the Lake Galilee Baptist Church (LGBC) took to the streets of downtown Cleveland on a special mission.

The group's president, Leon Reaves, says that they handed out clothes, shoes, toiletries and biblical audio at the Men's Shelter located at 2100 Lakeside Ave.

Afterwards they also held a prayer with the men.

The group spent about two hours sharing the items until they were gone.

Reaves says that although their ministry holds a monthly prayer breakfast to mentor men of all ages,  they wanted to touch their lives in a different way.

He went on to say that during a conversation with Pastor Kenneth Gray of the Beth' EL AME Zion Church, they decided to hand out the much needed items because they were not permitted to distribute food at the shelter.

The men's ministry at LGBC, under the direction of Pastor Jimmy L. Smith, became more active in the city of Cleveland the summer of 2014.

During this harsh winter, with historically low subzero temperatures, many recipients are sure to put the cold weather essentials to great use.

The free prayer breakfast is every fourth Saturday at 9 a.m.  Click here for more information.
