PAINESVILLE, OH (WOIO) - All Painesville schools were shut down Monday after someone phoned in a threat around 6:45 a.m.

Officials say the threat was called into Thomas Harvey High School, but as a precaution the middle school, three elementary schools and were also closed.

A phone alert was sent out to parents.

"We have newer buildings, so our buildings are zoned and we're able to note any suspicious activity via camera and video surveillance. So we'll be checking those cameras to ensure that. But we'll have authorities on hand tomorrow to start the school day as usual," said superintendent John Shepard.

Painesville police are investigating.
