SAGAMORE HILLS, OH (WOIO) - The former president of the Nordonia Hills Board of Education who held police in a standoff back in September, has pleaded guilty to several charges.
53-year-old Steven Bittel pleaded guilty to Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor, Pandering, Illegal Use of a Minor in Nudity, and Obstructing Official Business.
Bittel was arrested on September 5, 2014 after a five-hour standoff with police at his home on Ballantrae Drive in Sagamore Hills.
Officers were executing a search warrant issued by Stow Municipal Court after discovering Bittel's IP address was involved in a file sharing network involving child pornography.
During that standoff, Bittel threatened officers with a handgun.
Bittel will be sentenced on April 22, 2015 at 11 a.m.
He faces a sentence of up to 31 years in prison.
