AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Students and parents are concerned after some work is being done inside an Akron high school with asbestos warning signs posted.
officials say crews are removing water damaged ceiling tiles and all work is being done within federal guidelines concerning the removal of the microscopic mineral fiber.
Officials go on to say there is no active asbestos at Ellet, but the plaster that the ceiling tiles are adhered to may contain small amounts of asbestos.
Crews are carefully removing wet ceiling tiles, but are not disturbing the plaster to which it is glued.
