MUNSON TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - Three Munson Township firefighters have been injured in an accident involving a fire truck and two other vehicles in Geauga County.

The accident happened at 10698 Wilson Mills Road just after 3 p.m. Thursday.

State Police say a Dodge Grand Caravan was driving eastbound on Wilson Mills, and pulled over for the oncoming fire truck, which was running lights and sirens. Authorities say a GMC Acadia was also headed eastbound, but did not slow in time and struck the Dodge, then veered left of center and struck the fire truck head on.

Zvonimir Kulundzic heard the impact from the crash.

"Just hear a boom. That's it. What did it sound like? Not much. I thought my wife slammed the door on the car," said Kulundzic.

Kulundzic's mailbox pole was sliced in half. The actual mailbox landed a few feet away in the snow.

One of the firefighters and the driver of the GMC Acadia were taken to Hillcrest Hospital, both with critical injuries. Two other firefighters were taken to Geauga Hospital for treatment.
