No arrests after man shot in chest on Cleveland's east side

The

is investigating the felonious assault shooting of a 54-year-old male on Thursday around 10 p.m.

Officers responded to a call for a male shot in the 1100 block of E. 79th Street. Upon arrival, the victim was located on the rear porch and was only able to inform officers that the suspect came through the backyard and shot him. 

A neighbor said he was upstairs in his apartment when he heard two gunshots. When he looked out the back door, he saw the victim laying on the back porch. He did not see any suspects in the yard.

The victim was taken to

and treated for a gunshot wound to the chest.

There were no arrests and no weapons recovered at the scene. A spent slug that fell out of the victim's jacket was collected for evidence.
