Hill, a 24-year-old convicted felon, had been arrested on Feb. 20 on charges that he had violated conditions of his probation. On March 2, Hill was transported from the
to the hospital, and was admitted for treatment.
Due to the possibility of a protracted hospital stay, the
says Hill was released by the court on a signature bond on March 3 with the understanding that Hill would return to jail upon his release from
. However, the sheriff says just two hours after signing the bond, Hill left the hospital with intravenous needles still in his arms.
Since Hill was court ordered to return to jail and did not do so, an escape charge was filed. Hill was not under the direct supervision of any law enforcement officers at the time he left the hospital.
With help from the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, Hill was arrested in Barberton on March 9.
