WILLOUGHBY HILLS, OH (WOIO) - Willoughby Hills Police and Fire Department officials are sending out an alert to residents near the Chagrin River.
Authorities say the river is at the 14' mark, and is beginning to flood several yards on Chagrin Drive, Trailard Drive, Dodd Road and Milann Drive.
The fire department is assisting residents if they want to leave the area, and firefighters are providing service to anyone who needs it. So far, 40 to 50 homes have voluntarily evacuated.
Police tell us river levels are heading back down, which can happen in ice jam situations. Our Chief Meteorologist Jeff Tanchak says ice jams can fluctuate rapidly.
