SUMMIT COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - Police in Summit County are investigating the death of a 29-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man who was shot at a home in Munroe Falls early Thursday.

It happened around 2 a.m. at the home of Kent Police Officer Sarah Berkey, 30.

Police say Adam Robert Jovicic was shot in the abdomen during an altercation at the Hiwood Avenue residence. He was taken to Akron City Hospital and died from his injuries around 5 a.m.

On a 911 call, it seems Berkey is screaming and crying.

She tells 911, "He came over. He broke in and was beating me up, and I shot him."

You can also hear a man in the background talking and cursing.

Then Berkey says, "Oh my God. I can't believe. I am sorry."

When police arrive, Berkey tells them she shot Jovicic once.

Jovicic was a former Summit County Juvenile Court detention officer.

Fellow officers say Berkey is well-respected, and has been working with the Kent Police Department since 2008. She is a school resource officer at Kent's Roosevelt High School

She has been place on paid administrative leave as the investigation continues.

No arrests have been made.
