Strongsville native and veteran television reporter Lisa Colagrossi died after suffering from a brain hemorrhage just after covering a story for WABC-TV New York. The station says she was stricken after reporting from a live shot at a fire scene. The 49-year-old was taken to a hospital where she died Friday.
Colagrossi had been at WABC-TV since 2001. Previously, she was an anchor at WKYC-TV Cleveland and WKMG-TV Orlando. She graduated from Strongsville High School.
WABC-TV reports that she "out hustled other New York reporters from the very beginning, by becoming the only reporter to get to Belle Harbor, Queens when Flight 587 crashed after takeoff from JFK Airport."
She is survived by her husband Todd, and their two sons Davis and Evan.
