The trial for one of the Cleveland police officers involved in the 2012 deadly chase and shooting will begin on April 6.
Judge John O'Donnell ruled Thursday that Officer Michael Brelo can have a bench trial and set the date for next month.
Brelo and his lawyers have been in court all week asking to skip a trial by jury, something prosecutors had hoped to stop.
Officer Michael is charged with manslaughter in the shooting deaths of Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams in November of 2012. A total of 137 shots were fired at Russell and Williams, 49 of them by Officer Brelo.
He has pleaded not guilty in the case.
