EAST CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A group in East Cleveland has failed to meet the required standards to initiate a mayoral recall election.
According to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, the number valid signatures needed for a recall was not met by the party who submitted them to the Board of Elections Wednesday.
The residents want Mayor Gary Norton out. Organizers say they are upset at the city for having no rock salt during the winter months and for Mayor Norton wanting to merge their city with Cleveland.
The recall movement was started by the late Bernice Ewing.
Norton has been mayor of East Cleveland since 2010.
