An arrest warrant has been issued for an Akron Police officer accused in a brutal attack in downtown Cleveland.

Akron Police say 28-year-old Adam Campbell has been placed on administrative leave without pay. He has been with the Akron department since November 2014.

Campbell has been charged with felonious assault after allegedly attacking a man outside the Wyndham Hotel in Playhouse Square while off duty. The hotel was hosting a black-tie fundraiser for the Cleveland Police Scholarship Fund.

The victim, 31-year-old Steven Crupp, says he stopped at the Blue Bar inside the Wyndham after the NCAA Elite Eight game on March 29. Crupp says he left the bar and was attacked on the street by three men, one wearing a tuxedo.

Crupp suffered six broken ribs, a hip fracture and an abscessed tooth.

Campbell is expected to turn himself in.

Police say the incident was caught on hotel surveillance cameras, but video has not been released yet.

Police are still searching for the two other men involved in the attack.
