Summit County: TB testing continues

A person associated with Akron Public Schools has been diagnosed with active Tuberculosis Disease. Summit County Public Health has taken all necessary precautions to ensure that a thorough investigation of this incident is conducted to identify all potentially exposed individuals and provide treatment and guidance as necessary.

Clinical staff from Summit County Public Health will visit Jennings Community Learning Center April 7, 2015 from 10:00 am – 7:00 pm & April 8, 2015 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm to provide TB screening free of charge to only Jennings Community Learning Center student and staff.

Summit County Public Health will also provide readings on April 9, 2015 from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm & April 10, 2015 from 11:00 pm – 5:00 pm and follow up TB testing in 8-10 weeks. Students and staff who wish to be tested, but are unable to attend the April 7th & 8th 2015 clinic should contact Summit County Public Health at (330) 375-2772 to schedule an appointment.

Summit County Public Health has set up an information line for the public. The call-line is 330-926-5795.

Following Tuesday's screenings, the county health department will offer additional screenings today at Jennings Community Learning Center Middle School, 227 E. Tallmadge Ave., Akron 44310 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
