LORAIN, OH (WOIO) - Police are searching for a gunman they say fired shots at the home of the president of the Lorain County Branch of the NAACP.

Ellen Jean Wrice has been active with the organization since 1970, and has served as president of the Lorain County Branch for the past 21 years.

She says she was in bed last Friday in her home when she heard a loud boom in the middle of the night.

She got up to investigate, but didn't see anything. The next morning, she found several bullet holes in her bedroom wall.

Wrice wonders whether or not she was targeted in this attack.

"I don't know if it's some racial thing. I don't know if we got kids out of control type thing. I don't know," said Wrice. "I am too involved in this city with volunteer things that I do to think that someone would hate me enough to kill me."

Lorain police officers collected a bullet as evidence.
