Woman involved in a controversial RTA arrest has charge dropped

LAKEWOOD, OH (WOIO) - An RTA spokesman says the disorderly conduct charge against a Lakewood woman at the center of a controversial arrest at the West 117th Rapid Station on March 30.

Jessica Ferrato says she was taking the Rapid home from the Cleveland International Film Festival when an RTA officer asked for her RTA pass. Ferrato says after showing her pass several times, the officer threw her to the ground and arrested her.

The police report from the incident claims Ferrato was uncooperative during her exchange with the officer.

The RTA has apologized for how Ferrato was treated that night and the officer involved was placed suspended pending further administrative action.
