The FBI needs help identifying a man responsible for numerous commercial store robberies throughout Cleveland and surrounding suburbs.
To date there have been 11 commercials robberies total in Cleveland, Fairview Park, Lakewood, Maple Heights, and Garfield Heights. The unknown suspect has robbed gas stations and Subway/sandwich-type restaurants. The suspect is believed to work alone and appears to do surveillance measures to make sure the stores have no or few customers inside at the time of the robberies.
These robberies began in early October 2014 with the last one being this past Tuesday, April 7, 2015. This latest robbery occurred at 10:52 p.m. at the Speedway located at 15520 Munn Road in Cleveland. The unknown suspect entered the store and produced a black semi automatic handgun and stated "open up cash registers, you have 20 seconds." The suspect fled the store, his direction is unknown.
The suspect is described as a black male, 5'11 to 6'0, 220 to 230 lbs, approximately in his 30's, wears a "fake" black beard, gloves, gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans that have a light shade of white on the front and back of the jeans and distinctive rips or tears on the belt line area. The suspect either brandishes a weapon or shows the weapon which he keeps in his waistband. The suspect enters the stores consistently between the hours of 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
This individual is considered armed and dangerous.
The FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force is assisting in the investigation of this matter. It is possible this individual could face federal charges due to the Hobbs Act, (affecting interstate commerce, commercial stores.) Up to $5,000 in reward money is being offered for information leading to the identification and prosecution of the individual responsible for these robberies.
