AKRON, OH (WOIO) - The Akron Board of Education has accepted nearly a dozen more reconditioned musical instruments from a public radio station in Summit County that collects, restores and donates instruments.

The 10 instruments, provided though its Music Alive program, include a cornet, trumpet, trombone, saxophone, clarinet, flute, piccolo, and snare drum, plus an acoustic and bass guitar.

"Because of Music Alive, students who could not afford to experience instrumental music will have the opportunity to play! The instruments provided by this great program are filling a void, and music directors and students are excited about having instruments in great playing condition," said Sally Childs, Coordinator of Fine Arts for Akron Public Schools.

The latest donation brings the total of instruments to 250.
