Officer accused of using state database to find info on ex

AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Akron Police Sgt. Eric Paul is accused of using a state law enforcement database to dig up personal information on his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend.

Authorities say Paull used the program Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway to find persona information on his ex, who has a pending case against him for menacing. Paull has pleaded not guilty in that case.

Paull now faces a felony charge of unauthorized use of property.

He is currently on unpaid administrative leave.
