CANTON, OH (WOIO) - Canton Mayor William Healy has asked City Council to approve additional funding for pothole patching. The request was made at this week's city council meeting.

"Now that hot mix asphalt is available, which is the material needed to permanently fix the potholes, we are making it our top priority to fill each and every pothole as soon as possible," said Mayor Healy. "Our Street Department employees are doing a tremendous job and have spent countless hours patching potholes. However, a need for additional manpower exists," Mayor Healy said.

Providing additional crews, Northstar Asphalt has been helping city workers with the pothole patching effort.

As a result of two consecutive winters with extreme weather conditions, Canton has been left with some of the worst road conditions the city has ever experienced.
