CANTON, OH (WOIO) -

A week meant to raise awareness has turned into a war of words among students at one Stark County school.

At Canton South High School, some students didn't want to participate in diversity week and posted a flyer that says, "Diversity is so obvious there's no need for awareness day!"

On bullying, the flyer states, "Show off the guns to scare away bullies. Man up, or get help!"

The flyer also states, "Dress like a girl (only if you're a girl) and dress like a boy (only if you're a boy) to promote procreation and see to it that the population does not go extinct because of the LGBTQ community!"

Students, including diversity awareness group president Ian Kenyon, are not happy with the timing of the flyer or its content.

"Students decided to go completely out of the way to harshly attack our spirit week and we were just trying to accept diversity and to show everybody is equal," said Kenyon.

The bottom of the flyer says, "Realize the LGBTQ community is using 'Love' as a front, because loving anyone IS NOT WRONG, but sexual immorality with the same sex is!"

Some students believe the flyer was an attack on a specific groups of kids.

"I get everybody has their own opinion and they are allowed to express that, but that was a very vulgar way of expressing it in a very hurtful way," said Katlyn Webster, who supports diversity week at her school.

School officials would not say if the students who posted the flyer were disciplined for not getting permission to post it.
