LORAIN, OH (WOIO) -

On June 23, 2014, the Lorain Police Department filed a missing person report for Kathleena Star Burke. An extensive search was initiated and various locations were searched after multiple tips were called in, but all leads were met with negative results.

Police say Burke was known to frequent a wooded area in central Lorain where the homeless had established make shift camping areas. Searches of this area, along with the Black River, were conducted on multiple occasions, but no evidence was found.

On April 11, 2015, a male searching for aluminum cans in Lorain located the remains of what appeared to be a human body. The Lorain County Coroner's Office was notified and confirmed the remains were human. A suspicious death investigation was then initiated by lead Det. Brian Denman.

On April 20, 2015, the Lorain County coroner confirmed the remains are that of Kathleena Burke.

The investigation is ongoing at this time. Anyone with more information can contact the Lorain Police Department Detective Bureau at 440-204-2105. A $2000 reward is being offered for new information related to her disappearance and death.
